Ryu Of Japan was established in 2009 by Tomoyuki Iwatsuki. Independently owned and operated, Tomoyuki and his family fell in love with Austin, Texas and thought it would be a wonderful city to open a Japanese Restaurant.
Tomoyuki was born and raised in Japan, but spent most of his years in Boston, MA where he was the Co-Owner of the well known Japanese Restaurant and Market, Kotobukiya. Kotobukiya was open for 18 years and was very successful, but Tomoyuki wanted to explore a new environment. Indeed Austin was a great pick, the people are ultra friendly, and the city is very new and upcoming.
